NOTIFICATION FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT REGARDING THE AMGEN BIKE TOUR

On Monday, May 14, the AMGEN Tour of California will be coming through Boulder Creek.  There will be a rolling road closure between 2:15pm and 3:00pm on Highway 236, the section of Highway 9 between downtown Boulder Creek and Bear Creek Road, and Bear Creek Road from Highway 9 to the Summit. The California Highway Patrol believes the roads will be reopened by 3:00pm. This bike tour may delay SLV's bus service from the middle school and BCE. Not to worry! Our bus drivers will hold students on the bus until the rolling road closures have ended and the roads are reopened. If you would like more information regarding the bike tour, you may visit the AMGEN Tour of California website at http://www.tourofcalifornia-santacruz.com.   Thank You.

FAMILY SURVEY…For 3 years running, BCE families have demonstrated the highest percentage of participation of all the SLV schools in completing the Family Survey.  Please take the time (5 minutes or so) to complete this year's BCE Family Survey.  You may access the survey at

https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/T3N972B

We use family feedback to help evaluate the effectiveness of what we do and how we do it.  This year we added extra yard duty at each recess based on family and staff feedback. After completing the survey, please write your name and phone number along with the secret code on a piece of paper and return (to the office) to be entered in a drawing for 2 passes to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk.  Thank you in advance for your support and feedback.  Hard copies are available to fill out in the office.

BCE Bearmail 5/4/12

Friday, May 4, 2012

Dear BCE Family Members,

Thank you to all of our families who were able to attend Open House last night.  The students were very excited to act as "tour guides" and share samples of all of their hard work.  As usual, the Art Masterpiece Showcase was amazing.  Thank you to Lynn Brumbaugh, Kili Crandall and our wonderful Art Masterpiece volunteers for supporting our students in the arts and organizing the show.  Also, thank you to Mr. Dias and our advanced band for their great performance.  All of their practice and hard work has paid off.  Thank you to Beth and Russell Cole and helpers for preparing and serving the great BBQ food to help support the BCE Breakfast Club.

Good luck to BCE's Math Team who will be competing tomorrow against other teams from county schools.

If you have time tomorrow, stop by the Capitola Mall to see the annual Author's Fair.  BCE will have a table featuring books from our student authors.  Students will also have the opportunity to read their books over the loudspeaker.

Please take the time (5 minutes or so) to complete this year's BCE Family Survey.  You may access the survey at
