BCE Bearmail 2/14/14

February 14, 2014

Dear BCE Families,

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Three day weekend ~ Just a reminder that this is the last of our three day weekends for a while.  There will be no school Monday as we celebrate Presidents’ Day.

Superintendent Search ~ As you may know, our amazing Superintendent has decided to retire and we are in the process of beginning a search for a new Superintendent for our district.  Please see the attached documents regarding information about how you can be a part of this important decision making process.  THANK YOU!

Cell Phones ~ Just a reminder that if your student carries a cell phone on campus we need to have a permission slip signed by you on file in the office.  Additionally, cell phones need to be turned off during school hours and kept in backpacks.

Up Coming Dates to Remember

  • Monday 2/17 = No School (Presidents’ Day)
  • Thursday 2/20 = Site Council (3:30 pm – 4 pm)
  • Friday 2/21 = Movie Night sponsored by our Parent Club
  • Thursday 2/27 = Positive Parenting Program, Helping With Homework (6 pm – 8 pm)
  • Friday 2/28 – End of 2nd Trimester
  • Friday 3/7 = Report Cards sent home
  • Tuesday 3/11 = Family Dinner Night (Casa Nostra)
  • 3/31 – 4/3 = No School, Spring Break

Attendance Facts:

Last month was a rough one!  We had many students who were ill and missed one or more days of school.  The good new is that despite all the illness we were still able to raise our attendance by 0.01%.  Not a huge increase, but considering the circumstances a success!

Thank you for supporting your student by getting them to school every day and on time!

Safety Tip of the Week:

Please encourage your students not to bring umbrellas to school.  A raincoat with a hood is much more effective at keeping students dry and the tips and points on umbrellas can cause unwanted injury.  A surprising number of umbrellas magically turn into light sabers when they arrive on campus!

Wishing you all a wonderful three-day weekend!

The BCE Way:  BE RESPECTFUL, BE SAFE, BE RESPONSIBLE

BCE PARENTS CLUB EVENT & MEETING REMINDERS:

FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT - Next Friday, February 21, 6:30, BCE MP Room
