Reminder ~ Just a reminder that there is no school for our students tomorrow January 29th.  Our teachers will be working hard at a training focused on next steps for our students in Writing Workshop.


Valentine's Day ~ As February rolls in we start thinking about Valentine's Day.  Please remember that if your student brings Valentine cards for 1 student in the class, they need to bring cards for all the students in their class.  Valentine's Day is not a day for hurt feelings and hearts.


The BCE Way ~ Please ask your students to describe ways that they've demonstrated the BCE Way this week.  How did they show they were RESPONSIBLE, SAFE and RESPECTFUL?

It's a new year and time for our next family dinner night! Keep those healthy New Year resolutions and support BCE at the same time. Tonight, 1/27, 5-9pm, Edo Sushi will donate 20% of all orders to BCEs 3rd grade classrooms.

Tomorrow is the last day to order BCE spirit wear,.  There are extra order forms in the office (or download the attachment) then turn in to student's teacher or office.

BCE Bearmail 1/22/16

Dear BCE Families,

 

Reminder ~ Just a reminder that there is no school for our students next Friday January 29th.  Our teachers will be working hard that day at a training focused on next steps for our students in our Writing Workshop.


Field Trips ~ If you will be driving on a classroom field trip please make sure to give your student's teacher all your completed and current insurance forms at least two weeks in advance.  Drivers are chaperones of our students and for safety purposes our policy is no siblings on field trips. Thank you for driving on our field trips, we couldn't do it without you!


Science Fair ~ What a delight it was to tour our Science Fair yesterday!  I was so proud of all the students who participated.  I witnessed high levels of questioning, organization and perseverance.  I appreciated the attention to detail and the pride that was evident in their projects. Congratulations to all our participants and good luck to our students who will advance to the county completion.  A BIG thank you to all of our adult volunteers as well, especially Jacquie Spracklen and Karen Hoogners!


Extended! ~ Good news - the deadline to order your BCE Bear Wear has been extended!  Order forms and payment (cash or checks only) can now be returned to your student's classroom or the office on or before Thursday January 28th.  Thank you for showing your BCE spirit!  Please open the attachment if you would like to print out an order form.  Order forms are also available in the office.

Absences ~ If your student will be absent from school due to illness, please call the BCE Attendance Line at 338-2887.  This number is an answering machine and is available 24 hours a day.  Please call every day until your student returns and let us know how their recovery is going.  Remember that all absences must be cleared within 5 days or the student will be classed as truant.

BCE Bearmail 1/15/16

Dear BCE Families,

 

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ~ Just a reminder that this is a three day weekend as we celebrate the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  Dr. King would have been 87 years' old this year had he lived. 


Bingo ~ I hope you were able to join the fun last Friday in our MP. I want to send a BIG thank you to our Parent Club for hosting this wonderful event, to Justin at Boulder Creek Pizza for donating all the pizza to support the Science Camp fund and to the 5th grade families who provided the bake sale items. A fun time was had by all!


Science Fair ~ If you have the opportunity to stop by the Multi Purpose Room next Thursday, you will be able to experience the amazing BCE Science Fair!  Students from all grade levels will be displaying the learning's from their science projects.  Parent volunteers will be there to allow after school visitors from 6-7:30 pm.


Absences ~ If your student will be absent from school due to illness, please call the BCE Attendance Line at 338-2887.  Please call every day until your student returns and let us know how their recovery is going. 


Flu Season ~ As we're in the middle of flu season, please remind your students to wash their hands with soap and water on a regular basis.  Donations of anti-bacterial wipes are also always appreciated.


Bear Wear ~ I am excited to announce that BCE spirit wear order forms are available!  You should have received an order form from your student's teacher and more are available in the office. While our Parent Club is organizing the sale, this is not a fund raising event.  This allows prices to remain low in the hopes that more families will be able to show their BCE pride. Orders and payment are due to your student's teacher or the office no later than next Friday, January 22nd.

BCE Bearmail 1/8/16

Dear BCE Families,

 

Happy New Year! ~ I hope you all had a wonderful Winter Break and were able to enjoy lots of quality time with those amazing students of yours.  2016 promises to be an exciting year full of growing, learning and a few surprises along the way!


BINGO ~ Please join me tonight for Family BINGO Night!  The fun begins at 6:30 pm in the MP and there is no charge to play Bingo.  Additionally, there will be pizza and dessert available for purchase.  Proceeds from these food items will support 5th grade Science Camp.  Thank you to our Parent Club for sponsoring this fun event.


Welcome! ~ I'd like to extend a warm BCE welcome to two new additions to our BCE family.  Myra Schiermeyer,or Ms. Myra as her students call her, will be working with our first graders in Room 24 while Mrs. Thomas is on maternity leave.  We are excited to have Myra join our team; she is a credentialed teacher with a passion for the students of BCE.  Additionally, I would like to welcome Idalberto Borjas (Mr. Idal) to the position of evening custodian.  Mr. Idal comes to us with lots of experience and enthusiasm.


Parent Math Night ~ Would you like to have a few more tools in your tool belt when it comes to helping your child with math homework? Around mid February, SLVUSD will hold a parent math education night titled "How Do I Help My Child at Home With Math?"  The parent math night will be planned according to your responses to the following survey.  Click on the link below to answer the very short survey.  Please complete the survey no later than Thursday, Jan. 14 at 3:00 pm. Science Fair  - Boulder Creek Elementary Science Fair, January 21st 2016, is open to all students, from Kindergarten through 5th grade.
 
Our Science Fair is a place where students can explore the world of science. Participants design and perform their own experiment, then present their findings in a non-competitive and supportive setting.

Dear BCE Families,

 

Bingo Night tomorrow night (Friday Jan 8th)!  6:30-8:30 in the MP room.  It is free to play!  There will be baked goods for sale and slices of pizza, water and juices.  All proceeds from this night will decrease the cost of 5th grade science camp for all 5th graders.
