Dear BCE Families,
It's our Sesquicentennial! ~ This year BCE celebrates 150 years of educating students in the San Lorenzo Valley. To mark this special occasion, our generous and amazing BCE Parent Club has designed (thank you Amber Jones!) and purchased a sticker for each of our families. If they have not already, your student will soon bring home the sticker, probably in their homework folder, but possibly in the bottom of their backpack! I already have mine on the rear window of my car. I love showing off my pride for BCE as I drive up and down Highway 9!
Dangerous Driving ~ I received an email from a parent earlier this week who expressed extreme concern about unsafe driving that is occurring around the school. He relayed an incident where a driver was looking at her phone and would have hit a child crossing the street had she not listened to her mother and stopped. Only recently a young student in our valley was killed in an accident. Please, please, please keep your children, and all our children, safe. Drive slowly, follow the directions of the crossing guards, avoid distractions such as phones and be on high alert for pedestrians and other vehicles. There is nothing more important than the safety of our students. Thank you for taking care of our school community.
Drive for Schools ~ Would you like to win a car or $25,000 and support BCE? Fundraising tickets are $5.00 each or a book of 6 for $25.00. Tickets will be available in the BCE office through October 19th. 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales go straight to BCE! Thank you for supporting our students!
4th Grade Families ~ If you have a 4th grader, you and your family can now get in to our National Parks for free. The initiative is called Every Kid in a Park. The goal is to get 4th grade students and their families to explore nature and discover the living history here at home and all across the nation. Every single 4th grader in the United States can receive a free family pass to the national parks. Please click on the link below to find out how to access your free park pass.
Lost and Found ~ One of our amazing parents has volunteered to work on the lost & found area! Jackets, sweatshirts, sweaters and other item's will be checked for names once a week, and all left over items will be donated at the end of each month. Thank you for making sure your student's name is written on the inside collar of their outerwear as well as other items, such as lunch boxes, that they bring to school.

Staff and students shall refrain from bringing furred or feathered animals, stuffed toys that may collect dust mites, scented candles, incense or air fresheners and from using perfume or cologne, scented hair spray, nail polish or nail polish remover that are not fragrance-free in classrooms or other enclosed areas or buildings.

Drive For Schools tickets will be on sale until October 18th. Ideally each student would sell a
book or two of tickets to friends and family. Tickets are $5 each or six for $25. You could win a

Notes home are the primary way that we communicate with you. If you do come to campus or
are on our secret Facebook group then we have the fliers posted there as well. However, not
everyone comes to the campus or is on the group. This Monday or Tuesday you should be
getting Drive For Schools tickets in a white envelope, October calendar and October box top
collection sheets. We also have a special, complimentary sticker going home that
commemorates the school's 150th anniversary this year.
Keep collecting those box tops! Turn box tops into your classroom teacher no later than Your
next deadline is at the end of October. The top earning class will receive a prize!
Remember to shop Amazon Smiles, it is another easy way you can help earn money for the
school. Simply go to smile.amazon.com and choose Boulder Creek Elementary Parent Club as
your beneficiary. Then every time you shop a small amount goes to our school. You must shop
Amazon Smiles for the school to benefit from your Amazon order. It is not applicable from the
phone app.
The awesome thing about both box tops and Amazon is you do not have to have a student at
BCE in order for us to profit. Recruit family and friends who can collect box tops for your child
and ask friends with Amazon accounts to designate Boulder Creek Elementary as their
beneficiary at smile.amazon.com.
