BCE Bearmail 11/20/15

Dear BCE Families,

 

Thanksgiving Holiday ~ Please remember that our Thanksgiving break begins Monday and there will be no school next week from 11/23 – 11/27.  I wish all of you a wonderful Thanksgiving and I for one will be giving thanks for having the privilege of working with amazing students, fabulous families, and sensational staff!


Canned Food Drive ~ The Valley Christmas Project Canned Food Drive is up and running.  Please send in your non-perishable donations to help support families in our community.  This is a great opportunity for our children to discover the good feeling we receive when we do good things for others.


Science Fair ~ Just a reminder that the BCE Science Fair will be taking place at the end of January.  All students from kindergarten through 5th grade are invited to participate.  For more information visit http://bce.slvusd.org/student-activities/science-fair or contact our wonderful science teacher Patty Hayes.  Completed application forms can be returned to the office by December 11th.

BOULDER CREEK ELEMENTARY'S HOLIDAY GIFT SHIFT!

Please mark your calendar for the annual BCE Gift Shift, on Friday December 11th, 12:00 - 6:00. We will be collecting gently used toys, books, videos, and video games; however, we do not accept clothing items.  This year we will also have a section with items suitable for children to give to adults.  Donations can be delivered to the Office at Boulder Creek Elementary starting the week after Thanksgiving Vacation.  We will set up everything on Thursday, December 10th.

Up Coming Dates to Remember

  • Monday, 11/23 – Friday, 11/27 = No School (Thanksgiving Break)
  • 12/21 – 1/4 = Winter Break (Please note that students will return to school on Tuesday January 5th)

BCE PARENT CLUB EVENT & MEETING REMINDERS:

Family Dinner and Fun Night @ Boulder Creek Pizza & Pub - Wednesday, December 9, 4-9PM
A percentage of the night's proceed will benefit the BCE Music Program.  More details will be shared regarding the "FUN" in next week's Bear Mail.

Science Fair  - Boulder Creek Elementary Science Fair, January 21st 2016, is open to all students, from Kindergarten through 5th grade.

Our Science Fair is a place where students can explore the world of science.  Participants design and perform their own experiment, then present their findings in a non-competitive and supportive setting.

BCE Bearmail 11/13/15

Dear BCE Families,

 

Congratulations! ~ Let's congratulate Bryce in Mrs. Anderson's class, who is being honored for winning 2nd place in the Bookshop Santa Cruz Young Writers Contest. His narrative, The Big Trip, will be published in a book that can be purchased at the bookstore. A copy of the book will be available to check out at the BCE library! Bryce will receive a gift certificate, have his photo in the Sentinel, and will read his story on KZSC radio on Tuesday, December 1st during a live broadcast from 7-8pm

Family Conferences ~ Conferences start next week and we will have early dismissal every day (please note times below).

If an emergency comes up and you are not able to keep your conference time, please notify the office (338-6413) and we will contact your student's teacher.

Dismissal times for Conference Week are as follows: (Note that these are NOT early out times.)

      • Kindergarten:  11:50 am  (There will be no Kindergarten bus – the regular bus will leave at 12:20 pm)
      • Grades 1-3:    12:10 pm
      • Grades 4, 5:   12:15 pm

 

IMPORTANT REMINDER ~ Our Thanksgiving Break this year is a week long.  There will be no school the week of November 23rd – 27th

 

BCE Book Fair ~ The Book Fair will take place next week in our library form 8am to 5pm. Our book fairs are the only source of funding available to our library and all profits go to purchase new books and library equipment for BCE students.  When you're visiting campus for your student's conference, consider stopping by for a look and perhaps even some holiday shopping!

Your student's teacher will be asking you to confirm contact information during your conference next week.  If there are additional people you would like to add to your student's list of emergency contacts, please bring the names and current phone numbers with you.  Our priority is your student's safety!

Thank you Red Pearl – With the amazing efforts of the Red Pearl and all of you, we were able to raise about $470 for our science program here at BCE.  We are amazed and thankful!!

Better yet, order at www.redpearlonline.comby phone 831-338-9800, or by fax 831-338-9803, and eat in the comfort of your own home.  Whether you use forks or chopsticks, you can take satisfaction in knowing that the science program will be using the funds from your chow mein to purchase lab experiments and equipment.  
 

No School Tomorrow – Just a reminder that there is no school for our students TOMORROW, Wednesday, November 11th.  We will join the rest of the nation as we celebrate Veterans' day and honor the men and woman who have served our country.

BCE Bearmail 11/6/15

Dear BCE Families,

 

Family Science Night ~ It was so great to see so many of you last night at our Family Science Night! What a wonderful Parent Club we have to organize such an educational and magical event.


No School – Just a reminder that there is no school for our students next Wednesday, November 11th. We will join the rest of the nation as we celebrate Veterans' day and honor the men and woman who have served our country.


Reminder ~ Please remember to always check-in at the office anytime you are on campus to volunteer, pick up your student early, or even to drop off a lunch.  Thank you for helping us keep our school family safe.

Family Conferences ~ Conferences will be held the week of November 16th through the 20th.  If you have not yet received sign-up information from your student's teacher, you should be receiving it soon. 

Dismissal times for Conference Week are as follows: (Note that these are NOT early out times.)

FAMILY SCIENCE NIGHT – Air We Go!  TONIGHT, November 5, 6:30, BCE Multipurpose Room 


Although you can't see it, air is all around you; pushing, flowing and moving. Join us tonight to explore ten different activities to find out some of the things that air does.
