Quote of the Week (Success)

"What lies ahead of you and what lies behind you are nothing compared to what lies within you."

~ Mary Engelbreit

Did you know???

At the heart of good manners is a respect for oneself and others. Good manners convey a sense of respect for the sensibilities of other people. When you say, "thank you," you're taking the time to make the other person feel appreciated. Saying "please" respects a person's right not to do what you've asked.

Thank you for supporting your students by helping them practice their good manners.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend, enjoy the first day of Spring!

Did you know???

One of the most important things that you can do to make your young child feel safe is to establish as much routine in his life as possible. Children (and adults) feel the most secure when their lives are predictable. When adults provide environments that feel safe, children learn that they can trust others to take care of them and meet their needs, so they become free to relax and explore their world.

BCE Bearmail 3/4/16

March 4, 2016

Dear BCE Families,

Thank You! ~ On behalf of our entire staff I want to thank our Parent Club and all the families that participated in making Staff Appreciation week so special for us.  The decorated classrooms doors reminded the teachers every morning as they arrived that they were entering a room where the families appreciated and supported them.  The daily treats were enjoyed by the entire staff and the luncheon was above and beyond!  Additionally, there were flowers, cards and gifts that surprised and delighted many staff members.  BCE is such a special place.  Thank you for this outpouring of love and support, it means so much to all of us!  We are so very lucky to be working with such amazing students and families.

Spring Pictures ~ Spring Pictures will take place on Tuesday here at BCE.  All students will get their picture taken and there is no need to pay for pictures unless you decide to buy them after you see the proof.

Need Kindergarten? ~ Kindergarten registration for Fall 2016 has begun!  Visit Alma in the BCE office to find out more information and sign up for a spot to attend one of our three Kindergarten registration days and optional tours. Need ~ We are in need of children's pants.  We like to keep a supply of children's pants in the office in case of accidents or the occasional split seam.  Elastic or drawstring waists are best, but anything will work.  If your student has bottoms that they've outgrown, we'd appreciate the donation.  Thank you!

Math Night ~ Thank you to our own Ms. Ebrahimian who along with Ms. Winters and Ms. Meyers from SLE provided a wonderful Family Education evening for our District.  Their presentation on Helping Your Student With Their Math Homework was very well received and attended and I believe they are working on a follow up workshop.

Family Art Night ~ Many thanks also to Ms. Egbert who, in addition to coordinating our Family Art Night, wrote the grant that made it all possible! It was a wonderful evening full of terrific art activities.  I look forward to making this an annual event.  In addition to Ms. Egbert I want to thank our teachers who volunteered to help in the different classrooms, our wonderful BCE Parent Club who provided not only volunteers, but dinner too (!) and the artists working with the Arts Council of Santa Cruz County.

The Flyer Process for San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District is posted on the "home" page of the District website at www.slvusd.org.   The flyers and/or blurbs are no longer inserted into the school newsletters or distributed to the children.  The District is making an effort to reduce the amount of paper that is sent home with your child(ren) and is working together to streamline the newsletter so that you read about the most important information regarding your child's school.  The District has created a website where all of the approved flyers will be posted (Community Opportunity).
