BCE Bearmail 5/26/17

May 26, 2017

Dear BCE Families,

Reminder ~ Just a reminder that there will be no school on Monday.  Enjoy the long Memorial Day weekend and we'll see you back at BCE bright and early on Tuesday!

4th Grade Families ~ Please click here to read an important message regarding our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program for our 5th grade students.

End of year ~ As the end of the year approaches we can feel the summer energy increase.  Please help your student make the most of these last days of school by keeping to a routine as much as possible and reminding them how important their job as a student is.

Good Information ~ Please click here to read some excellent information about the importance of supervising and limiting your student's screen time.

Library ~ The BCE library is closed for the school year.  Please return any library books your student still may have. Payment for lost or damaged books can be made in the office.  Thank you!

Need Kindergarten? ~ Kindergarten registration for fall 2017 opened on March 15.  To begin the registration process, please plan on bringing your child's birth certificate, immunization record and proof of address (e.g. utility bill with your name and address).  For more information contact Alma, our Registrar - asteinberg@slvusd.org.

Children must be five years old by September 1 in order to enroll in Kindergarten.  If your student has a September, October or November birthday you might be interested in our Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program.  For more information please click here or call the BCE office at 831-338-6413.

We're looking forward to your student joining our BCE learning community!

Family Survey ~ It's that time of year again!  Please take a moment to use this link to complete our Family Survey.  The information we receive from the survey guides us in our plans for next school year.  Thank you for your time.

Band Festival ~ I'd like to invite you to the 8th Annual SLVUSD "District-Wide Band Festival" on May 30 at 7 pm in the SLVHS Gym.

This is the one time during the year that you can hear the BCE, SLE, SLVMS and SLVHS bands all in one place.  It's a fun way to celebrate how hard we've worked this year (or more) as well as see the progression from elementary through high school. Our finale for the evening will feature all 150+ performers playing together which is something you just have to see/hear to believe!

The event is free but donations will be accepted and there will be a $5 hotdog dinner available at 6 pm.

I hope you'll consider joining us for this fun evening of music!

Special BCE Bearmail 5/22/17

May 22, 2017

Dear BCE Families,

We overlooked ~ recognizing the countless hours that Mary Beth Curley and many more volunteers put into the Art Masterpiece display for last week's Open House.  Thank you so much - we couldn't have this program without our wonderful volunteers.  We do not have enough space on our page to thank all of our fabulous families who volunteer tirelessly in so many different ways, but please know you are all appreciated each and every day.

Please read the following message from our Parent Club Carnival Coordinator:

Carnival 2017:
This year's Carnival and Silent Auction was an event I will always remember.  It was a beautiful day, a very well attended event, a lot of happy kids and adults played and enjoyed our community and we raised a lot of money for our BCE students, staff and programs!
Thank you all for your support and enthusiasm for this event.  We had so many people step up and make this day really work.  A big thank you to all of the BCE office staff  (Alma, Margaret and Patti) for helping our committee with EVERYTHING!  Thank you to Denise and Bob Fosburgh for being available for anything needed on the day of the Carnival.  Thank you to Chrissy Dahl and Amber Jones who put a lot of energy into a very successful Silent Auction.  Thank you to Jamie McMurray, Melissa Ziganti and Kat Gafford who were flexible and always available to help in so many ways!  Thank you to Patricia Monack who stepped up at the last minute to run our concessions and also brought 3 friends who were there all day to help!  Thank you to Tammy Schultz who once again brought an onslaught of volunteers that made this event happen!  As well, I am very thankful to all the men who stepped up to work the BBQ Carnival day, Daniel Rose, Matt Dickinson, James Avery, Chris Kressman and to Dave McMurray who supervised the BBQ all day and did a great job executing the BBQ event!
There are so many more behind the scenes folks that helped as well.  Thank you one and all for every moment you all spent on this event!
I am so thankful to be a part of this wonderful community and can't tell you how much it warms my heart to know that we all came together to create a fun and profitable events for the BCE Community!
Have a great summer!
Laurel Johnson,
Carnival Coordinator
