BCE Bearmail 1/22/16

January 22, 2016

Dear BCE Families,

Reminder ~ Just a reminder that there is no school for our students next Friday January 29th.  Our teachers will be working hard that day at a training focused on next steps for our students in our Writing Workshop.

Field Trips ~ If you will be driving on a classroom field trip please make sure to give your student's teacher all your completed and current insurance forms at least two weeks in advance.  Drivers are chaperones of our students and for safety purposes our policy is no siblings on field trips. Thank you for driving on our field trips, we couldn't do it without you!

Science Fair ~ What a delight it was to tour our Science Fair yesterday!  I was so proud of all the students who participated.  I witnessed high levels of questioning, organization and perseverance.  I appreciated the attention to detail and the pride that was evident in their projects. Congratulations to all our participants and good luck to our students who will advance to the county completion.  A BIG thank you to all of our adult volunteers as well, especially Jacquie Spracklen and Karen Hoogners!

Extended! ~ Good news - the deadline to order your BCE Bear Wear has been extended!  Order forms and payment (cash or checks only) can now be returned to your student's classroom or the office on or before Thursday January 28th.  Thank you for showing your BCE spirit!  Please open the attachment if you would like to print out an order form.  Order forms are also available in the office.

.

Absences ~ If your student will be absent from school due to illness, please call the BCE Attendance Line at 338-2887.  This number is an answering machine and is available 24 hours a day.  Please call every day until your student returns and let us know how their recovery is going.  Remember that all absences must be cleared within 5 days or the student will be classed as truant.

The Flyer Process for San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District is posted on the "home" page of the District website at www.slvusd.org.   The flyers and/or blurbs are no longer inserted into the school newsletters or distributed to the children.  The District is making an effort to reduce the amount of paper that is sent home with your child(ren) and is working together to streamline the newsletter so that you read about the most important information regarding your child's school.  The District has created a website where all of the approved flyers will be posted (Community Opportunity).
