BCE Bearmail 1/13/17

January 13,2017

Dear BCE Families,

Happy New Year! ~ I hope you all had a wonderful Winter Break and were able to enjoy lots of quality time with those amazing students of yours.  2017 promises to be an exciting year full of growing, learning and a few surprises along the way!

Reminder ~ Just as a reminder that there will be NO SCHOOL on Monday as we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King's Birthday.

BINGO ~ Wrap up warmly and please join me tonight for Family BINGO Night!  The fun begins at 6:30 in the MP and there is no charge to play Bingo.  Additionally, there will be pizza and dessert available for purchase.  Proceeds from these food items will support Science Camp.  Thank you to our Parent Club for sponsoring this fun event.

Rain ~ Thank you for your flexibility and patience during this last round of storms.  As much as we'd love to never have to cancel school, our priority is always your student's safety.

If you did not receive a phone call from the District's automated system regarding the school closure, please make sure you have completed your SLV Parent Portal and returned there to complete registration.  Directions on how to complete the portal can be accessed by clicking here.  If you have completed your Parent Portal, but have changed phone numbers or if you need further assistance please contact our wonderful registrar Alma Steinberg at 338-6413.

If you have already completed your Parent Portal and registration, but are still having difficulties, sign in to the portal and select "Contact Manager" then follow directions to update contact information.

Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) ~ I am excited to remind you of our next Triple P workshop!  On Thursday evening from 6:00 -7:30 pm Cori Burt will be presenting on "Encouraging Your Child's Self-Esteem".  The workshop is free and includes childcare and light snacks.  Please click here to find out more information about this workshop and here for more information about a very special 8-week group that will be starting in February.

Lost & Found ~ As you may be aware, there are dozens of lost and found items hanging on racks in front of the office.  Please take a moment to look for anything that may belong to your student.  All items remaining at the end of January will be removed and donated to a local charity.  Thank you!

Free Bingo Night – Holy cow!!  This is happening tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 in the Multi-purpose Room!  We will be rocking the bingo action like no other.  If you like fun then you will want to wrap up warm, get to the MP room, grab your free bingo boards, and join some friends for a night of awesomeness.  Each bingo round will see an adult winner and a child winner.  We will also be serving pizza for $2 and baked goods for $1.  Ms. Peterson's class will be providing the lovely treats and running the bake sale to benefit 5th grade science camp.  We hope to see you there!!

Family Dinner Night – Run, don't walk to Edo's Sushi Bar & Grill on Wednesday, January 18th from 5 – 9 pm. This amazingly delicious restaurant (and I mean DELICIOUS) is sponsoring our January Family Dinner Night with 20% of the night's proceeds benefiting our art program here at BCE. Mini Mermaid Running Club (MMRC) is a six week program of self-discovery, confidence-building, and goal-setting for elementary and middle school-aged girls. Having served over 6000 girls worldwide, we teach girls that the finish line is just the beginning through thoughtful curriculum and training for a 5k that addresses girls' mind, body and spirit. Through a structured curriculum-based program, MMRC gives girls the tools they need to live a healthier life.
