BCE Bearmail 12/6/13

December 6, 2013
Dear BCE Families,

I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break.  I can't believe it's just two more weeks until Winter Break is here!

Breakfast Club ~ The BCE Breakfast Club is in need of donations!  Our parent run Breakfast Club runs entirely on donations and serves over 80 students a day!  The Breakfast Club is open to all of our students and provides a much needed service for students who arrive at school and haven't had breakfast.   It's hard to do your best work if your tummy is empty!  During this giving time of the year you might consider supporting the BCE Breakfast Club.  THANK YOU!  Cash or checks (made out to BCE Parent Club, "Breakfast Club" in the memo) can be dropped off at the Breakfast Club or in the office.

Canned Food Drive ~ The Valley Christmas Project Canned Food Drive continues.  Please send in your non-perishable donations to help support families in our community.  This is a great opportunity for our children to discover the good feeling we receive when we do good things for others.

HOLIDAY GIFT SHIFT

Monday,  December 16th, 12:00 – 6:00 p.m.

Come to the Gift Shift on December 16th!  All families are welcome to come and enjoy holiday shopping.  Select and take home free gifts for your children while demonstrating the spirit of recycling.  Remember, you don't have to donate to participate.  Many families have contributed their toys and books and donations are still needed.  Children must come with an adult, but adults don't need to come with children.   We'll see you at the Gift Shift from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.!

At Home Keyboarding ~ Student accounts, 2nd through 5th grades, have been set up at www.typingweb.com.  Parents can contact their child's teacher for logon information.

Up Coming Dates to Remember

  • Wednesday 12/11 = Family Fun, Dinner & Karaoke @ BC Pizza (benefiting 3rd grade)
  • Thursday 12/12 = Parent Club Meeting (6:30 pm – 8:00 pm)
  • Monday 12/16 = Gift Shift
  • Wednesday 12/18 = 1st Grade Sing, 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
  • 12/23 – 1/3 = No School = Winter Break

Attendance Facts = Missing 2 weeks of class time each year in primary school means a total of 14 weeks teaching time missed— this could have a real impact on their
basic literacy and math skills.

Thank you for supporting your student by getting them to school every day and on time!

Safety Tip of the Week: With the cold weather upon us, please remind your students to wear sturdy shoes and walk.  We can have ice and frost that are sometimes hard to see.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
