BCE Bearmail 1/24/14

January 24, 2014
Dear BCE Families,

No School. ~ Just a reminder that this will be a four day weekend. Monday is a District holiday (Semester Break) and Tuesday is a Teacher Work Day.  We’ll see you back at BCE on Wednesday the 29th.

Field Trips ~ If you will be driving on a classroom field trip please make sure to give your student’s teacher all of your completed and current insurance forms at least two weeks in advance.  Thank you for driving on our field trips, we couldn’t do it without you!

Soccer ~ It was an intense game with lots of great plays and incredible sportsmanship.  In the end the staff went ahead of the 5th graders and won the game. Congratulations to all!

Kind Hearts! ~ Yes it was facial hair Friday, but the student council also decided to sell cups of apple cider to raise money to support our kindergarten friend who was recently diagnosed with leukemia.  What wonderful, thoughtful students we have here at BCE - I’m so very proud of them!

Common Core Standards ~ Our teachers have begun the important work of preparing for implementing the Common Core State Standards for English/Language Arts next year.  Grade level teams are meeting with their counterparts from SLE and mapping out a curriculum guide.  This great collaborative work will produce great opportunities for learning!
