BCE Bearmail 4/11/14

April 11, 2014

Dear BCE Families,

Thank You! ~ We want to thank our Parent Club, and everyone who helped make this such a special week for the BCE staff.   From the massages and treats to the extraordinary lunch at Scopazzi’s, the staff felt appreciated and indulged!  We are indeed a lucky school community to be able to work with the students and families of BCE!  THANK YOU

Testing ~ Our 5th graders completed the English Language Arts and Math sections of the new state online test this week.  They were amazing!  I was so proud and impressed with their stamina, perseverance, and sense of purpose.  The 4th graders will be testing next week.

Thank you for supporting your students by sending them to school having had a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast.

Help? ~ The tanbark delivery that was planned for a couple of weeks ago had to be cancelled due to rain.  Luckily the delivery has been rescheduled, but we need your help to spread out the tanbark once it has been dumped.  The new delivery day is next Wednesday, April 16th.  If you can help, please arrive at the upper playground at 1:30 and bring a shovel if you can. Thanks!

Amazon ~ Our Parent Club has joined the Amazon Smile program.  Signing up is easy!  All you need to do is go to smile.amazon.com or click on the Amazon Smile button on our Parent Club home page (https://sites.google.com/site/bceparentsclub/).  After you sign up all you need to do is go to the smile.amazon.com page and shop as usual.  A percentage of every purchase made through Smile Amazon will be donated to BCE.  For more information please check out our Parent Club home page or visit smile.amazon.com

Attendance Facts:

Children who miss 20 or more days of school in kindergarten through grade three do poorly in school, and are likely to have future problems with truancy, delinquency, substance abuse, and drop out of school.

Thank you for supporting your student by getting them to school every day and on time!

Safety Tip of the Week:

Sometimes as our students get older they begin to forget basic safety rules.  The next time you’re out walking with your student please check that they are continuing to look both ways when they cross the street, and are aware of moving vehicles in parking lots.  We spend a lot of time teaching our children these basic safety rules when they are toddlers; we want to make sure they are still practicing these safety rules.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
