BCE Bearmail 9/19/14

September 19, 2014

Dear BCE Families,

Thank You! ~ What a wonderful Back to School Night!  Thank you for coming out and supporting your students.  The connection and communication that happens between home and school is so important to your student's success.  The teachers spent many hours putting together their presentations and materials for you and I know they appreciated seeing you here on Thursday. We are looking forward to continuing our important work together and as a school community supporting the great students of BCE.  THANK YOU!

CGI Parent Education Night ~ We are thrilled to be able to announce that Carolee Koehn Hurtado, with the UCLA Mathematics Project, will be conducting a parent information event.  This free event will take place on Monday September 22nd at San Lorenzo Valley Elementary, 6:30 – 8:00.  Come and learn more about Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) and learn strategies to support your student's growth and development in mathematics.

Site Council ~ Congratulations to our new School Site Council members - Melanie Dudley, Michelle Morton, Deann Kinerson and Rebekah Rose.  Thank you for volunteering your time to help our students achieve success.

Reminder ~ Please remember that ALL District sites are considered CLOSED between Sunset and Sunrise.  Unauthorized personnel are NOT permitted on District school sites between Sunset and Sunrise.   This will be enforced by District Security as well as the local Sheriff's Department.

Please share this information with all of the members in your household.  This is to ensure the security of our facilities and the safety of our staff and students.  Thank you for your assistance.

Attendance Facts:

Please read the attached letter from Santa Cruz County Superior Court Judge, Heather Morse.  In it she discusses the importance of regular school attendance for your students.

Thank you for supporting your student by getting them to school every day and on time!

Safety Tip of the Week:

Just a reminder if you are dropping off or picking up your student by car, please follow the directions of our staff members that are directing traffic.  They are there to protect the students. Unfortunately we've had too many close calls lately involving cars with drivers who are ignoring the safety procedures we've put in place to try and protect the children.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
