Dear BCE Families,
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ~ Just a reminder that this is a four day weekend as we celebrate the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King would have been 86 years old this year. Tuesday the 20th will be a Teacher Work Day. Our staff will be working with SLE to align our curricular plans and share best practices.
Absences ~ If your student will be absent from school due to illness, please call the BCE Attendance Line at 338-2887. Please call every day until your student returns and let us know how their recovery is going.
Flu Season ~ We're in the middle of flu season - please remind your students to wash their hands with soap and water on a regular basis. Donations of anti-bacterial wipes are also always appreciated.
Spirit Wear ~ I am excited to announce that BCE spirit wear will soon be available! You will soon be receiving an order form and more information about the t-shirts and sweatshirts that will be available. While our Parent Club is organizing the sale, this is not a fundraising event. This allows prices to remain low in the hopes that more families will be able to show their BCE pride.
Lost and Found ~ Please come by and check out the extensive Lost and Found pile. Any items left at the end of the month will be collected and donated to a local charity.

Attendance Facts: Just a reminder that if your student needs to be absent from school for 5 or more consecutive school days they are eligible for an Independent Study contract. Please see your student's teacher for more details.
Thank you for supporting your student by getting them to school every day and on time!
Safety Tip of the Week: Please make sure your student knows how they're getting home each day. Every day we have students coming into the office to make phone calls to find out how they're getting home or where they should go. This can be scary for the students and can lead to confusion for all parties involved.
Wishing you all a wonderful four day weekend!

The Flyer Process for San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District is posted on the "home" page of the District website at www.slvusd.org. The flyers and/or blurbs are no longer inserted into the school newsletters or distributed to the children. The District is making an effort to reduce the amount of paper that is sent home with your child(ren) and is working together to streamline the newsletter so that you read about the most important information regarding your child's school. The District has created a website where all of the approved flyers will be posted (Community Opportunity).
