BCE Bearmail 2/17/17

February 17, 2017

Dear BCE Families,

No School ~ Just a reminder that there will be no school on Monday as we celebrate Presidents' Day.

Family Movie Night ~ The Family Movie Night that had previously been scheduled for tonight has been rescheduled and is tentatively scheduled to take place on Friday March 3rd, more details to follow.

Parenting Classes The Triple P parenting class series kicked off on Tuesday and promises to be an important and valuable parenting resource.  Classes take place from 6:00-8:00pm in the library at BCE.  If you were not able to make the first meeting there will be a make-up meeting at 5:00 prior to the meeting on the 21st or you can call Cori Burt (335-6600 x6605) to make arrangements.  Please click here for more information about this powerful series of classes.  Advanced registration is preferred, but you can also register when you arrive on Tuesday at 5 pm.

Pennies for Patients ~ BCE students are participating in the annual Pennies for Patients drive which benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  The drive will run from Feb. 6 - 24.  Each student will be bringing a collection box home this week and encouraged to fundraise for cancer patients.  Thank you for your support. This fundraiser is a wonderful opportunity for students to see how small contributions joined together can make a generous donation to an organization that makes a difference in people's lives.

SLVUSD Charter Programs ~ Please read the following information from the Charter Schools.

The Charter Information nights are coming in March. Come find out more about the Charter School Options available in our district.

We have one information night for our hybrid-Homeschool programs, and another for our seat-based Nature Academy Program.  The information nights open the application window for the Nature Academy and Quail Hollow Integrated Arts Program.  A lottery will be held if there are more applications than seats available in either of the programs.  All other programs are filled based on the date the application is turned in, as are the wait lists.

Did you know???

Good attendance is the first step in developing a strong work ethic that will serve your student well all through their life.  School is their job right now and you support them in getting to school every day and on time, you are creating those good habits that will support them in successful careers.

Thank you for supporting your student by getting them to school every day and on time!

Wishing you all a wonderful three-day weekend!

The Flyer Process for San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District is posted on the "home" page of the District website at www.slvusd.org.   The flyers and/or blurbs are no longer inserted into the school newsletters or distributed to the children.  The District is making an effort to reduce the amount of paper that is sent home with your child(ren) and is working together to streamline the newsletter so that you read about the most important information regarding your child's school.  The District has created a website where all of the approved flyers will be posted (Community Opportunity).
