BCE Bearmail 2/24/17

February 24, 2017

Dear BCE Families,

Family Movie Night ~ The BCE Family Movie Night has been rescheduled for Friday March 10th.  I hope you are able to join the fun.

End of 2nd Trimester ~ It's hard to believe that today is the last day of our 2nd trimester!  I can't believe how quickly this year is going.  Report cards will be sent home with your students on Friday, March 10th.

Please Join Us! ~ Please join our superintendent, Dr. Laurie Bruton, as she discusses the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) for SLVUSD.  For your convenience two meetings have been planned.  The first will take place on March 28th at 6:30 pm in the Multi-Use room at the High School and the second meeting will take place on April 11th in the library at BCE.  This will be a wonderful opportunity to not only learn about the plan, but to provide input.  Please click here for a flyer and additional information.

SLVUSD Charter Programs ~ Please read the following information from the Charter Schools.

The Charter Information nights are coming in March. Come find out more about the Charter School Options available in our district.

We have one information night for our hybrid-Homeschool programs, and another for our seat-based Nature Academy Program.  The information nights open the application window for the Nature Academy and Quail Hollow Integrated Arts Program.  A lottery will be held if there are more applications than seats available in either of the programs.  All other programs are filled based on the date the application is turned in, as are the wait lists.

Did you know???

Helping your student arrive to school every day and stay for the whole school day conveys to your student that you respect their teacher, the other students, and the important work that they are doing.

Thank you for supporting your student by getting them to school every day and on time!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

The BCE Way:  BE RESPECTFUL, BE SAFE, BE RESPONSIBLE

BCE PARENT CLUB EVENT & MEETING REMINDERS:

Staff Appreciation Week – Staff Appreciation Week is Monday, February 27th through Friday, March 3rd, with an extra luncheon on Wednesday, March 8th.  Let's show our amazing BCE staff how much we appreciate them!  By now you should have received a flyer regarding the schedule and what is required of you and your child for each day.  You can contact your coordinator (the name is located outside the teacher's door) with any questions or email Tammy at bcepc.execs@gmail.com.  Please come down to the school on Sunday, February 26th to help decorate additional rooms of treasured staff that are not teachers.  You can come anytime, but supplies will be provided from 1:30 to 3:30.

Family Movie Night – Movie night has been changed to Friday, March 10th.  Join us for a showing of Finding Dory.  Doors will open at 6 pm, and the movie will start at 6:30.  We will be giving out free popcorn and water.  There will also be a bake sale with yummy treats and juice boxes for sale.  So bring your pillows and blankets, get in your jammies and get ready to enjoy the show!!

Family Dinner Night – Yum! Yum!  Save Tuesday, March 7th for a delicious dinner at Casa Nostra.  Their amazing Italian food sounds like music to our ears, so the night's proceeds will benefit our very own BCE music program.

Walk/Jog-a-thon – This year's walk/jog-a-thon has been postponed to March 24th.  Please be on the lookout for pledge sheets and information in your student's backpack.

Yearbook Link – All picture takers, we need your help!!  If you have any pictures from school-wide events, please share them with us.
The Yearbook committee needs pictures of the Science Fair and any other field trips or school events uploaded to the website.  Watch for the posters as you will be able to purchase your child's yearbook starting next week!
Do you have pictures of BCE's Halloween, Family Science Night or Holiday Sing/Celebrations?
Please upload them to our yearbook website under one of these categories or your child's teacher's name:

Mini Mermaid Running Club (MMRC) – If you love running and have some time to make a difference in the lives of our BCE students, please check out the description below of the MMRC.  Mini Mermaid Running Club (MMRC) is a six week program of self-discovery, confidence-building, and goal-setting for elementary and middle school-aged girls.  Having served over 6000 girls worldwide, we teach girls that the finish line is just the beginning through thoughtful curriculum and training for a 5k that addresses girls' mind, body and spirit.  Through a structured curriculum-based program, MMRC gives girls the tools they need to live a healthier life.
If you are interested in bringing this program to BCE, please email Tammy Schultz at bcepc.execs@gmail.com.

The Flyer Process for San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District is posted on the "home" page of the District website at www.slvusd.org.   The flyers and/or blurbs are no longer inserted into the school newsletters or distributed to the children.  The District is making an effort to reduce the amount of paper that is sent home with your child(ren) and is working together to streamline the newsletter so that you read about the most important information regarding your child's school.  The District has created a website where all of the approved flyers will be posted (Community Opportunity).
