BCE Bearmail 4/17/15

April 17, 2015

Dear BCE Families,

Simon's Hook ~ We had a wonderful assembly with Grandma Rose on Tuesday.  Attached is a letter from Grandma Rose (Karen Burnett) that follows up on the assembly.  One of the powerful messages from Grandma Rose was the idea that we're each responsible for our own reaction to other people's behavior.  Ask your student what they learned from this great assembly.  A big THANK YOU to our Parent Club for making this event possible!

Bear Wear ~ With the weather changing and students shedding layers of cloth as it warms up through the day, we are finding a lot of new BCE sweatshirts in the lost and found pile.  Please take a moment and write your student's name inside the collar.  It's great to be able to reunite a student with their BCE Spirit Wear.  Thank you!

Healthy Treats ~ Just a reminder that we have many students with dietary issues and food sensitivity.  Please consider this if you choose to bring in birthday or party foods.  Fruits, vegetables, cheese, crackers and popcorn are all good alternatives to high sugar, low nutritional food.  Thanks for supporting our students!

Attendance Facts:

In addition to academic skills, your students are learning other skills each day they come to school.  They are learning social skills at recess and in collaborative work in the classroom.  They are learning perseverance and resiliency as they work through academic and social struggles and they are learning that school is important.

Thank you for supporting your student by getting them to school every day and on time!

Safety Tip of the Week:

Thank you for being safety role models for our students!  When they see you following the directions of our traffic control staff, walking around the parking lot rather than through it, etc., you are letting them know that safety is important for everyone.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

The BCE Way:  BE RESPECTFUL, BE SAFE, BE RESPONSIBLE

BCE PARENT CLUB EVENT & MEETING REMINDERS:

Family Dinner Night – Join us on Wednesday, April 22nd for an epic night of pizza deliciousness and trivia fun at the Boulder Creek Pizza & Pub.  Proceeds will benefit the first grades, and good times will benefit everyone!

Open House BBQ – It looks like the Open House BBQ has been saved.  A handful of hardworking 4th grade parents have stepped up to make this happen.  Proceeds from the BBQ will benefit all 4th grade students by lowering their science camp tuition next year.  Thanks so much parents!  Please email bcepc.execs@gmail.com to help volunteer with cooking, tending the register, set up and take down.

BCE Carnival – Each teacher has been assigned a booth that will need to be staffed with volunteers.  Please sign up with your child's teacher on the orange sheet posted outside their door.  You are more than welcome to sign up for more than one timeslot.  In addition, we will need volunteers for assistance with the Silent Auction, the BBQ, and a rover (someone to help give volunteers a break and some fresh water).  We will also need fun but firm parents who are willing to man the special jump houses, obstacle courses, and slide so that all participants are enjoying a good old fashion fun/safe time.  Please volunteer for these extra duties by emailing Tammy Schultz at bcepc.execs@gmail.com.  The Carnival and Silent Auction is on Saturday, May 16th from 10:30am to 3:30pm.  We will need all parents on deck!

Yearbook – Don't miss out on a yearbook this year!  They are now on sale for $20.  The deadline to order is April 30th.  It's not too late to share your photos with our yearbook staff.  Email them to bouldercreekyearbook@gmail.com.  Please include the name of the event in your email.  Thanks a ton!!

Campus Beautification Day – Sunday, April 26th is the special day that BCE parents come together to bond over beautifying our school.  Please save the date!

Officers & Committee Chairs Needed – Are you good at balancing a budget or do you know someone who is?  We need 2 treasurers next year.   We also need a co-vice president.  Many hands make light work!  We need your hands.  In order for us to provide the many programs, benefits, and, events to our BCE community that we do - we need wo/manpower.  We will definitely need 2 treasurers, a co-secretary, and a co-vice president for next year, but all positions will be up for election in May.  If there is an event or program that you and your family really enjoy, please consider being a committee chair.  All past information for any program you consider will be available to you to help you in your venture as well as a team of committed parents to back you up.
