Empathy Quote of the Week :

"Empathy is the faculty to resonate with the feelings of others.  When we meet someone who is joyful, we smile.  When we witness someone in pain, we suffer in resonance with his or her suffering."

                                                            ~ Matthieu Ricard

Did you know???

Students can fall behind if they miss a day or two every few weeks.

Thank you for supporting your student by getting them to school every day and on time!

Wishing you all a wonderful 3-day weekend!

The BCE Way:  BE RESPECTFUL, BE SAFE, BE RESPONSIBLE

This is a reminder that San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District policy, as set by the Board of Trustees, declares that we are a fragrant-neutral district. As we continue to have assemblies and other site-based activities and meetings, please take care to follow the policies below for the sake of the students and members of our community who are highly allergic to fragrances and scents.

The SLVUSD Board of Trustees adopted a California School Board Association policy to make all district classrooms and offices fragrant neutral. BCE has parents, students, and community members with respiratory issues who can have negative reactions to fragrances. Please take care to follow the policy while on campus.

Staff and students shall refrain from bringing furred or feathered animals, stuffed toys that may collect dust mites, scented candles, incense or air fresheners and from using perfume or cologne, scented hair spray, nail polish or nail polish remover that are not fragrance-free in classrooms or other enclosed areas or buildings.

BCE PARENT CLUB EVENT & MEETING REMINDERS:

Family Science NightTonight is Family Science Night, 6:30-8pm in the MP Room! The theme is Amusement Park Science.  This is a super-fun event for the whole family.  This event is presented by the San Jose Children's Discovery Museum.  We hope to see you there.

Our next Family Dinner Night will be Wednesday, November 15, 12-3 pm and 5-9 pm Tae's Edo Sushi Grill.

The next Parent Club meeting will be on Thursday, November 16. It will be in the Staff room (because the book fair will be set up in the library).  Come find out what's new, share comments or ideas and ask questions!  We had a great turnout at the last meeting!  Babysitting is always provided.

Holiday Gift Shift: The next big event the Parent Club is planning is the Holiday Gift shift which will be Friday December 8, 2017, all day in the MP room.  Please start setting aside new or gently used items to donate.  If you are interested in volunteering for this event please email us at bcepc.execs@gmail.com.

Last chance - don't forget to book your Holiday Mini Photo Shoot this weekend with Tiffany McKee at Anor Photography in Boulder Creek.  25% of proceeds will be donated to BCE!  To sign up, contact Tiffany at 408-921-2583, anorphotography@gmail.com, or use signup.com on the BCE Facebook page.  3 locations, 3 dates, available 8 am - 5 pm for $125 - what an amazing offer!

Yearbook: If you have pictures to share from Ice Cream Social, class field trips or Halloween please do share! Create a log-in and upload your pix to: https://link.entourageyearbooks.com/welcome.asp?action=photos&yearbook_id=22741&guid=   Or email: bcepc.yearbook@gmail.com to get in touch.

Amazon Smiles: If you haven't signed up already just go to www.smile.amazon.com You do not have to have a student enrolled at BCE to sign-up so be sure to tell family and friends to sign-up too!  This does not work on the Amazon app on your phone, so order on your phone and then log into your amazon smiles account online to give the school a credit.  Amazon gave over $400 to BCE last year through this program.

Box tops: You can help the school by collecting box tops!  There are drop boxes in every classroom as well as one in the office.  They are collected monthly.  We will be combining November and December though, due to the holiday breaks in each month.  The class with the most boxtops collected for the month of October will receive a pizza party so stayed tuned for the announcement of the winner!  Proceeds go for P.E. equipment.  In the past we have made over $1,000, so start collecting because it really does add up.  Ask your friends and family to help as well!

Facebook Group: Join our Facebook group by e-mailing us at bcepc.execs@gmail.com  This is a private group so you must be invited and have a student enrolled in order to be a member. It is a great forum to ask questions, receive announcements and stay involved.

The Flyer Process for San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District is posted on the "home" page of the District website at www.slvusd.org.   The flyers and/or blurbs are no longer inserted into the school newsletters or distributed to the children.  The District is making an effort to reduce the amount of paper that is sent home with your child(ren) and is working together to streamline the newsletter so that you read about the most important information regarding your child's school.  The District has created a website where all of the approved flyers will be posted (Community Opportunity).
