BCE Bearmail

May 9, 2014

Open House ~ I'm looking forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday for our annual Open House.  The Parent Club BBQ starts at 5:00, the Book Fair opens at 5:30. The band performance begins at 5:45 and the classrooms will be open from 6:30 – 7:30.  Don't forget the Art Masterpiece display that will be open in the MP from 5:00 – 7:30.

New Superintendent ~ Our school board has selected a new superintendent!  Her name is Dr. Laurie Bruton and she comes to us from Whittier City.  She was introduced at the Board meeting on Wednesday and made a quick site visit on Thursday.  Dr. Bruton is very excited to be working with our district.  Her first official day will be July 1st and I'm sure there will be several opportunities to meet her before we return to school in August.

Family Surveys ~ If you have not done so, please complete our family survey.  The information we get from them is very important and allows us to refine what we do to better support all  students and their families.  Thank You!

The link to the survey will be open through Friday, May 23, 2014.

Lost and Found ~ While you are here for Open House, please take a look at our collection of Lost and Found items.  Hopefully you will find some of your students' missing sweaters, sweatshirts, etc.

4th grade Trip to Cabrillo ~ I had the opportunity to accompany our 4th graders to Cabrillo College today.  Our students were amazing and it was a privilege to introduce them to a college campus and begin opening their minds to all the possibilities open to them.  We have amazing students here at BCE that will change the world!

Spectra ~ Do you hear the beat?  Our primary classes have been working with a Spectra artist this past week.  Each class was able to spend some time working with an African drummer and working on their percussion skills.
