BCE Bearmail 10/17/14

October 17, 2014

Dear BCE Families,

Walk-Jog-a-Thon ~ It was a beautiful day for our Walk-Jog!  Many thanks to all our wonderful parent volunteers and a huge hug of appreciation for Dusty Gipson who will be advancing to the middle school next year with her daughter.  Dusty has done a fantastic job heading up the Walk-Jog-a-Thon over these past years.  She will be missed, but I know she's passing the baton on to some capable hands.  Thank you Dusty and all the parents that helped out today to make this event a success!

Drive for Schools ~ Our wonderful Parent Club is providing one last chance to turn in your raffle tickets.  You can turn in any remaining tickets and checks by Monday at 9am (to the office please!) and still be eligible to win the car or $25,000!  Good luck to all that have entered and THANK YOU for supporting BCE in this fundraiser that gives us 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales.

Paperwork for Field Trip Drivers ~ Thank you for being flexible as we implement our new student enrollment program, Info Snap.  Many of you completed online forms that would allow you to drive on field trips.  Unfortunately, teachers will still need hard copies of your insurance declaration page and a copy of your driver's license to verify the information that you submitted with your registration information.  At this time staff members do not have access to any supporting documentation that you may have uploaded.  If you did not complete any paperwork online, your student's teacher will give you the correct forms and let you know what documentation you need to submit.  Thanks again for supporting our students and volunteering to drive on field trips!

College & Career Readiness  ~ As a way to make our students aware of different colleges and training opportunities after high school, some of our staff members may be wearing college t-shirts or sweatshirts on Wednesdays.  It will give us the opportunity to talk about that particular college and remind them of the importance of being lifelong learners.

BCE PARENTS CLUB EVENT & MEETING REMINDERS:

Drive for Schools – Thank you so much for supporting this very important fundraiser. Today was the last day to return your tickets and money. However, if you forgot to turn in your tickets, please bring them to the office first thing on Monday morning. We will be gathering all tickets and driving them to Santa Cruz shortly after school begins. We want to make sure yours are included.

Walk/Jog-a-thon – Today was also the world-renowned BCE Walk/Jog-a-thon! Tons of amazing volunteers made this exciting day possible, so if you see one, be sure to give them a hearty thumbs up. The students were fabulous as usual and a great day was had by all. Pledges are due to your child's teacher on or before Thursday, October 30th.

Family Science Night – The much-anticipated Family Science Night is coming back to BCE this November 6th. The theme for this year's event is "Science Magic." So save the date for your little magician to discover the surprising science secrets behind some of the world's popular magic tricks!

We are BEAR-Y thankful to the Boulder Creek Brewery for their generous donation from last month's family dinner night. We made $50 more than last year. Cheers to them for their amazing support! See you in November at the Red Pearl.
