BCE Bearmail 10/3/14

October 3, 2014

Dear BCE Families,

Ice Cream! ~ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!  I hope to see many of you between 5 and 7pm today for our annual Ice Cream Social.  Remember the first scoop is free for all BCE students!

Drive for Schools ~ Would you like to win a car or $25,000 and support BCE?  Raffle tickets are $5.00 each or a book of 6 for $25.00.  Tickets will be available tonight at the Ice Cream Social and all proceeds go to BCE!  Thank you for supporting our students!

Halloween Costumes ~ It's October and I know many students are already planning their Halloween costumes. There are a few guidelines regarding costumes.  Costumes should be in good taste and safely constructed so that they do not interfere with regular class activities.  Gruesome costumes and bloody, fake wounds are not appropriate for an elementary school.  Weapons (including fakes), skateboards and roller blades are not allowed as part of costumes.   If you are unsure, please contact your child's teacher or the office before purchasing the costume

Fire Drill ~ We had our first fire drill of the year today.  Ask your student about it and how they demonstrated the BCE Way by being safe and responsible.

Up Coming Dates to Remember

  • Tonight = Ice Cream Social, 5pm – 7pm
  • Wednesday 10/8 = Family Dinner Night @ BC Brewery
  • Thursday 10/9 = Parent Club Meeting, 6:30, MP
  • Friday 10/17 = Walk-Jog-athon
  • Thursday 10/30 = BCE Halloween Parade
  • Friday 10/31 = No School (Teacher Work Day)

Attendance Facts:

Building a habit of good attendance in elementary school will help your student do well in high school, college and any career that they choose.  It is much easier to establish the expectation of regular school attendance in elementary school than it is when your student gets to middle or high school.

Thank you for supporting your student by getting them to school and being on time every day!

Safety Tip of the Week:

Please do not park in the yellow drop-off zone on Harmon Street.  It creates an unsafe situation for our students by forcing them to walk in front of cars.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
