BCE Bearmail 10/24/14

October 24, 2014

Dear BCE Families,

Halloween - There are a few guidelines regarding costumes.  Costumes should be in good taste and safely constructed so that they do not interfere with regular class activities.  Gruesome costumes and bloody, fake wounds are not appropriate for an elementary school.  Weapons (including fakes), skateboards and roller blades are not allowed as part of costumes.   If you are unsure, please contact your child's teacher or the office before purchasing the costume.  The Halloween Parade is slated for Thursday, October 30th at 9:00 am on the upper playground.

No School – Just a reminder that there is no school for our students on Friday October 31st.  It is a teacher workday and our staff will be trained in new and exciting curriculum practices

Family Conferences ~ Family Conferences are just around the corner.  Please return the sign up sheets to your student's teacher as soon as possible.  Our staff works very hard to arrange conference time that work for everyone.  The sooner you return your preferences to your teacher, the higher the likelihood that you will get one of your preferred times.

College Awareness Week  ~ The San Lorenzo Valley Board of Trustees has proclaimed the week of October 27 – November 3, 2014 as College Awareness Week.  We hope to promote a college going culture for our students and families and by doing that support our BCE Bears to pursue and achieve their dreams.

BCE PARENTS CLUB EVENT & MEETING REMINDERS:

Drive for Schools – A huge thank you to all of the BCE families for their fabulous support of this important fundraiser.

Walk/Jog-a-thon – By now you know what an amazing job your child did in the walk/jogathon.  We are all really proud of their efforts.  Please keep those pledges coming in - they are due to your child's teacher on or before Thursday, October 30th.

Family Science Night – The much-anticipated Family Science Night is coming back to BCE this November 6th. The theme for this year's event is "Science Magic." So save the date for your little magician to discover the surprising science secrets behind some of the world's popular magic tricks!  We still need a few extra volunteers so if you are willing and able, please contact Tammy at seattletam@yahoo.com.

The next family dinner night will be at the Red Pearl on Wednesday, November 12.  This evening of fine dining will support 4th grade.  Dine-in or carry-out both accepted.
