BCE Bearmail 4/22/16

April 22, 2016

Dear BCE Families,

Student Author Fair ~ I hope you can make plans to attend the Student Author Fair at Capitola Mall next Saturday April 30th from 10 am - 3 pm.  Many of our BCE classes will be represented at this fun event and students will have the opportunity to read their original work aloud to an audience.

Yearbooks ~ April 30th is the last day to order a yearbook.  The cost for the yearbook is $20; extra order forms are available in the office.

Carnival Help ~ The BCE Carnival is coming up and as always promises to be lots of fun for everyone.  An event this amazing requires lots of support.  Please see the Parent Club section below to see how you can help support our school community.

Math Night ~ Many thanks to those of you who were able to make it to our Parent Math Night on Tuesday.  I know this is a busy time for everyone and I appreciate the time and extra effort you committed to supporting your students.  If you were unable to make it to a Parent Math Night this year, we are hoping to have a similar program in the fall.

Reminder ~ Unless you have a disabled person parking placard, please do not drive on campus to drop off or pick up students. Thank you for keeping our students and staff members safe!

Lost and Found ~ We've noticed that when the temperature increases, so does the Lost and Found pile.  Please try to find an opportunity in the next week or so to stop by with your student and see if you might find a piece or two of missing outerwear.

Incoming 6th Grade Parent Night

Tuesday, May 10, 6:00 pm

Incoming Sixth-Grade Parent Night will be held on Tuesday, May 10 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Middle School Gym.

Parents of current Fifth-Grade students are invited to come for an informative presentation on the SLVMS Sixth-Grade program and school-wide opportunities for students.

This is your chance to hear the scoop on Middle School and have your questions answered.

Recognition ~ It was an honor to be at our School Board meeting on Thursday night.  The Board recognized students in our District who competed at the county Science Fair (including our own Gregory Souza in Mrs. Gibney's class) and also recognized BCE and SLE for being recipients of the California Gold Ribbon School Award.  It was an evening full of pride and celebration for our SLV community.

Early Arrival ~ Just a reminder that there is no yard supervision before 8:10 am.  Please remind your student that if they are on school grounds before 8:10 am, they should wait in the office or have a bite to eat at the Breakfast Club in the MP.

American Revolution ~ I'd like to send a big BRAVO to Mrs. Peterson's 5th grade class!  All their hard work paid off and their musical performance was a complete success.  Well done Room 10!

Did you know???

I know it sounds like a no-brainer, but if you consistently find yourself running five to ten minutes late every day, start your morning routine 15 minutes earlier.  You'll be modeling for your students the power of making small changes that will lead to positive outcomes.

Thank you for supporting your student by getting them to school every day and on time!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
