BCE Bearmail 4/29/16

April 29, 2016

Dear BCE Families,

LAST CALL FOR YEARBOOKS  – We've extended the deadline for yearbook orders. All orders must be in by Monday,  May 2.  Don't delay - order today!

We really need you!  BCE counts on the Annual Carnival, one of our most important fundraiser to raise money to run the office and provide supplies for the classrooms throughout the year.  Please find a time to sign up for a booth or contact bcepc.execs@gmail.com

California State Testing ~ Our state testing window is open!  Our fifth graders completed the state science test this week and next week all our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders will begin the Math and Language Arts portion of the test.  Please help your student do their best work by having a healthy breakfast with some protein and make sure they get a good night's sleep. Any student who is late to class during a testing period will have to wait in the office until testing is over and will then have to make up the test time.

Family Survey ~ It's that time of year again!  Please take a moment to complete our Family Survey by clicking on the link.  The information we receive from the survey guides us in our plans for next school year.  Thank you for your time.   link

After School Supervision ~ Please help provide us provide consistent playground expectations for your students by reminding them that school rules are the same no matter what time of day it is.  Please remind your student that climbing the hills, throwing sticks, or playing in unsafe ways on the play structure is never allowed.  Thank you for supporting your student as they live the BCE Way.

Returning Student Registration ~ We are very pleased to announce that SLVUSD is using a new online registration program for returning students in the 2016-17 school year called "PowerSchool Registration".  Please watch your email inboxes for an email notification regarding the annual student registration through your parent PowerSchool account.  The email is being sent by Gail Heagerty, our Student Information System and Database Specialist; the subject line is "New Annual Student Online Registration."  All annual student online registrations need be submitted by the parent/guardian no later than Friday, June 17.  Call our Registrar, Alma Steinberg, with any questions at 831-338-6413 or email her at asteinberg@slvusd.org.

Student Author Fair ~ I hope you can make plans to attend the Student Author Fair at Capitola Mall tomorrow from 10 am – 3 pm.  Many of our BCE classes will be represented at this fun event and students will have the opportunity to read their original work aloud to an audience.

Carnival Help ~ The BCE Carnival is coming up and as always promises to be lots of fun for everyone.  An event this amazing requires lots of support.  Please see the Parent Club section below to see how you can help support our school community.

Lost and Found, Going…Going…Gone! ~ We've noticed how when the temperature increases, so does the Lost and Found pile.  Please try to find an opportunity in the next week or so to stop by with your student and see if you might find a piece or two of missing outerwear.  Items not picked up by the end of next week will be donated to a local charity.

Incoming 6th Grade Parent Night

Tuesday, May 10, 6:00 pm

Incoming Sixth-Grade Parent Night will be held on Tuesday, May 10 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Middle School Gym.

This is your chance to hear the scoop on Middle School and have your questions answered.
