BCE Bearmail 5/13/16

May 13, 2016

Dear BCE Families,

Thank You! ~ It was wonderful seeing so many of you at Open House yesterday.  The students have worked hard all year and I know how proud they were to show off their work.  Your ongoing support for your students is so important for their continued success.

v Thank you to the Parent Club and 4th grade families and friends for making the BBQ such a success.

v Thank you Kili Crandall and our Art Masterpiece volunteers for making the Student Art Show such a showcase for our talented students.

v Thank you Carey Liston for the fun musical performances.  You can't beat live entertainment especially when it's our own BCE Bears!

Carnival Help ~ The BCE Carnival is TOMORROW! An event this amazing requires a lot of support.  If you have not yet had the opportunity to sign up to help, please check in at the Volunteer Booth.   The booth will be located near the benches outside of the front office. Thank you for modeling such great community values.  Your students are so proud and happy to see their families participating in our BCE community.  Thank you for your support, I look forward to seeing you all at the carnival tomorrow!

Band Festival ~ I'd like to invite you to the 7th Annual SLVUSD "District-Wide Band Festival" on May 17th at 7 pm in the SLVHS Gym.  This is the one time during the year that you can hear the SLE, BCE, SLVMS and SLVHS bands all in one place.  It's a fun way to celebrate how hard we've worked this year (or more) as well as see the progression from elementary through high school.  Our finale for the evening will feature all 150+ performers playing together which is something you just have to see/hear to believe!  The event is free but donations will be accepted and there will be a $5 hotdog dinner available at 6 pm.  I hope you'll consider joining me for this fun evening of music!

Family Survey ~ It's that time of year again!  Please take a moment to complete our Family Survey.  The information we receive from the survey guides us in our plans for next school year.  Thank you for your time.  link

Registration ~ We are very pleased to announce that SLVUSD is using a new student online registration program for the 2016-17 school year called "PowerSchool Registration".  Please watch your email inboxes for an email notification regarding the annual student registration through your parent PowerSchool account.  The email is being sent by Gail Heagerty, our Student Information System and Database Specialist; the subject line is "New Annual Student Online Registration."  All annual student online registrations need be submitted by the parent/guardian no later than Friday, June 17.

Did you know???

Missing classes in elementary school sets the stage for problems later. If students are absent or tardy it is often difficult for them to stay at grade level. Students who don't read at grade level by the end of third grade are four times more likely to become high school dropouts.

Thank you for supporting your student by getting them to school every day and on time!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
