BCE Bearmail 10/20/17

October 20, 2017

Dear BCE Families,

Thank you! ~ It has been quite a week here in Boulder Creek!  Our positive thoughts and prayers continue to go out to families who have been evacuated by the Bear Fire.  With every struggle there are demonstrations of grace, kindness and courage and this past week has been no exception.  The BCE, Boulder Creek, and San Lorenzo Valley community came together and once again reminded us of what a special place this is and how lucky we are that our BCE Bears get to grow up here.

RESCHEDULED

Ice Cream Social! ~ I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!  I hope to see many of you next Friday (October 27th) between 5 and 7pm, for our annual Ice Cream Social.  Remember the first scoop is free for all BCE students!

Recognition Assembly ~ The student recognition assembly that was scheduled for Wednesday this week, has been rescheduled for December 6th.

IMPORTANT SAFETY CONCERN ~ We have had many parents and staff members express concern about the unsafe conditions during drop off and pick up times.   We have cars that are parking in the drop off zone and in no parking areas of Laurel and cars that are parking in the no parking turn around area at the top of Harmon.  Unfortunately, we have also had incidents when drivers and walkers did not follow the directions of the staff members charged with directing pedestrian and motor traffic.  All of these conditions contribute to making conditions unsafe for our students.  Thank you for supporting and protecting our BCE community

Triple P ~ Our Triple P Parenting Seminar continues next Thursday! I hope you are able to join this powerful group as you work together to support your family. Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) is a program of First 5.  All seminars are free of charge and childcare is provided.  BCE has hosted Triple P seminars and groups in the past and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.  Please click here to view the flyer that contains all the details on this, and other, upcoming seminars.

Empathy Quote of the Week :

"The great gift of human beings is that we have the power of empathy."

                                                            ~ Meryl Streep

Did you know???

If your student is 10 minutes late for school every day by the end of the school year they will be missing between 5 (grades 4 & 5) and 9 (kindergarten) days of important academic instruction.

Thank you for supporting your student by getting them to school every day and on time!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Denise
