Congratulations ~ Congratulations are in order for Miles Hoogner (Decoding Gravity) and Marcus Spracklen (Investigation into Biodegradable Bags) who were award winners at the Santa Cruz County Science Fair. Specific awards, prizes and honors for each project will be announced at an Awards Ceremony on March 20. Congratulations boys, we're so proud of you!
State Testing ~ Our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students are scheduled to take the state assessment test (CAASPP) during the first two weeks of May. Please click here to read a letter from our District that will provide you with important additional information about the Smarter Balanced Assessment.
California School Dashboard ~ Please click here to view a letter that explains the preliminary roll-out of the new new accountability system in California - The California School Dashboard. In addition, the California Department of Education has prepared a wealth of resources for parents you can explore. This is a very early version of the tool and we are all learning together, so please stay tuned for future updates.
Thank you! ~ A big thank you to the Gafford family and our BCE Parent Club for hosting a successful Family Movie Night. These family events are always so fun and a great way to enjoy our BCE community.

Need Kindergarten? ~ Kindergarten registration for fall 2017 will open on March 15. Visit the BCE office to pick up a registration packet and sign up for a spot to attend one of our two remaining Kindergarten orientations and tours. Tours will take place at 9 am on April 18 and May 10 (adults only please). To begin the registration process, please plan on bringing your child's birth certificate, immunization record and proof of address (e.g. utility bill with your name and address). Children must be five years old by September 1 in order to enroll in Kindergarten. If your student has a September, October or November birthday you might be interested in our Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program. For more information please call the BCE office at 831-338-6413.

Please Join Us! ~ Please join our superintendent, Dr. Laurie Bruton, as she discusses the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) for SLVUSD. For your convenience two meetings have been planned. The first will take place on March 28 at 6:30 pm in the Multi-Use room at the High School and the second meeting will take place on April 11 in the library at BCE. When you say, "thank you" you're taking the time to make the other person feel appreciated. Saying "please" respects a person's right not to do what you've asked.

Walk – jog – a – thon - Get ready for the annual Walk-Jog-a-thon on Friday, March 24! Look in your child's mail for the pledge sheet and start pledging!!
